与亡妻的约定 跑完2390公里 退休工程师为癌童筹逾70万

林祥贵从凌晨4点30分准时开跑,一路跑到上午11点30分左右,每天平均跑40至50公里。 凌晨3点,闹钟准点响起。66岁的他在酒店房内起身,熟练地穿上跑鞋,检查好补给与随身装备,为当天的长跑做好准备。 凌晨4点,后勤团队已经在大厅等候;约4点半,一行人驱车返回前一天结束的地点,他则从此处再次出发,朝着下一个目标前进。 这样的清晨,他重复了整整86天,从未间断过……从槟城出发,历时86天,跑遍马来西亚半岛11州,完成了2390公里长跑,成功为儿童癌症研究,以及马来西亚国家癌症协会筹得逾70万令吉善款。 很多人将这趟“旅程”视为挑战极限,也有人称他为“66岁超人”,但他并不觉得自己完成了什么惊天动地的壮举。筹款固然是重要目标之一,但对他来说,更深的初衷,是为完成与亡妻许下的一个约定。 林祥贵环跑西马半岛的经历,让不少长者相信无论年龄多大,只要愿意开始运动都不会太迟。 今年66岁的林祥贵(SG Lim)是一名退休工程师。谈起这趟“Run For Gold”慈善之旅,他没有先谈自己跑了2390公里,或70多万令吉的筹款成果,而是先说起已故妻子朱莉(Julie)。 他说:“我们原本打算一起,用走的环岛。” 朱莉陪伴他走过了大半生,年轻时,两人因工作长期旅居海外,从俄罗斯、纽西兰、新加坡到香港,一起打拼事业,也一起憧憬退休后的生活。 终于等到退休时,他们开始认真讨论一件事:当不用再为工作四处奔波,最想完成什么事?对此,两人的答案出奇一致——就是用最慢的方式,重新认识马来西亚。 退休后的梦想 林祥贵边回忆边认真地说:“不是搭飞机,不是开车,而是一步步,用双脚把整个半岛走一遍。那时候,我们甚至认真讨论过路线。” 算起来,如果一路徒步走完整个马来西亚半岛约要半年时间。但他们并不觉得半年很长,因为在退休之后,时间终于不再被工作切割,而是能完整地留给自己,也留给彼此。 可遗憾的是,计划始终没有机会开始,原因是朱莉确诊了癌症。 未完成的约定 自此,夫妻俩的生活重心便从规划旅行,变成穿梭于医院、治疗与复诊之间。直到朱莉于2024年离世,那原本属于两人的梦想,也随之停在了原地。 尽管妻子已经不在,林祥贵却始终觉得,应该替两人完成这个共同的心愿。于是他翻出当初规划的路线,重新计算之后发现,若将徒步改成跑步,便可将旅程缩短至约3个月。 由于自己本就有跑步习惯,也曾参加过马拉松赛事,他最终决定把原本的计划,改成环绕马来西亚半岛的长跑。虽然形式改变了,但始终没变的是,他想替两人完成这段旅程的决心。 癌童才是益跑主角 很多人第一次听见Run For Gold,都会以为“Gold”是指金牌或冠军,林祥贵总是不厌其烦地一再解释,它真正代表的是——儿童癌症患者。 在国际上,金丝带(Gold Ribbon)是儿童癌症的象征,就像粉红丝带(Pink Ribbon)是全球乳腺癌防治运动的公认标识一样。当朱莉因癌症离世后,他也深刻地体会到,癌症影响的不只是病人本身,也会牵动整个家庭。 因此,当他决定重启这段未完成的旅程时,并不希望只是一场属于个人的挑战,也希望这趟旅程能为癌症儿童筹款,让更多人关注儿童癌症家庭面对的挑战。 不为个人荣耀 于是,原本属于夫妻之间的约定,慢慢延伸成一项全国性的公益行动,为马来西亚国家癌症协会筹募善款,以便帮助更多的癌童家庭。 他强调:“我是为了孩子跑,不是为了自己。” 林祥贵于今年3月28日,从槟城“希望之家”(Home of Hope)开跑,并于6月21日抵达槟城大英义学(Penang Free School)。他最初设定的目标是2200公里,因途中绕路才增加了190公里,至2390公里。 槟州首席部长曹观友(右二)在槟城大英义学迎接林祥贵,标志着2390公里的Run For Gold圆满结束。 一个人起跑 一群人同行 在这趟长跑旅程中,陪伴林祥贵的,不只是公益的信念,还有一路上越来越多的陌生人的善意。 出发前,他从未想过一场长跑,竟会让自己认识如此多的人。他起初只是向几位朋友分享,消息一传开便有越来越多人主动询问他需要什么帮助。 他想了想后,只提出了一个小小请求,希望能印制1000件T恤,送给陪跑者和支持者们,好让更多人能认识到Run For Gold。没想到,对方几乎没有犹豫,便一口答应了赞助。 全国善意涌动 后来就连运动品牌也陆续加入支持行列,马来西亚国家癌症协会更配合他途经各州的行程,安排医院探访、校园分享及公众教育活动,让这场长跑的影响力进一步扩大。 就这样,本只是一个人的计划,逐渐变成一群人共同参与,也让林祥贵不禁感叹:“事情的发展完全超出我想象!” 更令他意外的是,全国各地开始有人主动联络他。有人主动捐款、有人提供住宿、有人协助宣传,也有许多素未谋面的陌生人,只因看见新闻报道,便决定加入这趟充满意义的旅程。 林祥贵与团队途经吉隆坡,在长跑旅程中继续朝下一站迈进。 责任支撑他前进全国善意涌动 长跑86天,最难的并不是距离,而是把同样的一天,重复86次。 ● […]
